    • Another Oscar book that introduces simple scientific concepts to children. Some lovely visual representations of scientific concepts, and good models for asking questions to extend learning.

    • This a good book that explains electricity without being too didactic. I also used this book as an opportunity to explain the batteries, plugs, sockets inside our home and the power lines outside our home.

    • Oscar and the Bird is part of a continuing series of Oscar the cat exploring science concepts with other animal friends around him. Each Oscar book begins with him making an OBSERVATION and following that observation with a QUESTION to help him understand how something works. An animal friend joins him to help find answers and more information about each concept using examples from a variety of animals, natural phenomenon, and sometimes everyday man made devices. Each story presents Oscar APPREC [...]

    • I think this is a fun book that introduces the concept of electricity to students. I think that it can be used to help those struggling with the concept of electricity to understand it better. I think it would be an excellent resource to have in your classroom. I also believe that it could be a book that could appeal to students who are interested in science but not interested in reading. I think that it could rope them in and help them to get engaged in reading because they would be reading som [...]

    • This would be a great book to introduce electricity. Oscar learns what electricity is used for, how it works, and what it is made from. I think boys would love reading this book. It would spark student's interests. Therefore, I'd follow up reading the book with a science experiment dealing with electricity.

    • Does a great job explaining electricity to a young audience. Both my 3-year-old and my 9-year-old were interested and learned something. One of those books that is rarely well done, and this one is well done.

    • One of a basic non-fiction picture book series explaining science to grades K-2. Here the bird tells Oscar about batteries and electrical wires.

    • I really enjoy the illustrations in this book and I love that it makes learning a little about electricity so simple. I also enjoy that the back page gives some questions for the reader to answer.
