    • This heartwarming rhyming story portrays the love and remembrance between two twin sisters. It also teaches its readers about how el Dia de Los Muertos is celebrated. I love the rich colorful illustrations and that it is well written in Spanish & English. At the end of the story, you can find a recipe to make sugar skulls and steps to learn how to make a drawing of Rosita. Loved it! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to teach their children about el Dia de los Muertos. It was e [...]

    • This adorable story is about twin sisters who are separated when one passes away. Conchita is building an altar in remembrance of her sister Rosita. As she adds some of Rosita's favorite things, Rosita is in the land now gone, trying to get to her alter before it's too late. We've read a few stories about Dias de las Muertas, although this one felt so much more personal. My girls aren't twins, but they are close. The love of the sisters in the story kept them together. This is a great book to te [...]

    • A great book for Halloween. It's a very sweet (and not scary) story of two twin sisters trying to find each other. The formula of the repeated obstacles for Rosita coming back from the land of the day got slightly repetitive for me, but it was the tension in the story that was otherwise a really awesome description of building an altar for a departed loved one. I only bothered to read the rhymes in Spanish the first time through and I really liked them. I also liked the cartoon-art pictures. It' [...]

    • Very cute children's book that teaches the power of love over death. It presents a great opportunity to learn about cultural practices, including how to make your own sugar skull. It also presents an opportunity to talk about death with children, and addresses death in a positive manner; those in the world of the dead are happy. I love that it is one long poem and that it is in both English and Spanish.

    • Really touching story about two sisters who celebrate Dia de los Muertos. One sister has passed away while the other honors her deceased twin sister; this picture book is beautifully illustrated, heartwarming and the English-Spanish translation is perfect! (And it rhymes in both languages so bonus points!) There is even a recipe for sugar skulls towards the end, along with a cute how-to for drawing one of the main characters.

    • Translation not exact, actually rhymes better in Spanish, a bit forced in the English version. Great illustrations. A bit sad that the dead person honored is the little girl's twin, looks about the same age so maybe it was a recent death.

    • This is a lovely book. The loss of a sibling is a terrible thing, and this book gives a way for the children who have suffered this loss to remember their brother or sister. It would also be a good into to discuss death and how one culture handles death and grief. I highly recommend it.
